Participants will be taken by bus on a driving tour of the Mississippi Alluvial Valley (MAV or Delta) and its diverse habitats, including state, federal and private lands managed for waterfowl and waterfowl hunting. The tour will focus on wintering waterfowl needs and the importance of various habitats; the importance of particular regions within the Delta to waterfowl; and, the history and culture of the region, including its rich waterfowling heritage. Opportunities to view large concentrations of waterfowl should be abundant. Tour guides will include state and federal agency staff and private conservation partners.
Separate tours will depart the Peabody the morning of Sunday, January 27, 2013. One will traverse the Mississippi portion of the MAV; the other Arkansas. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Busses will return to the Peabody in the late afternoon. A detailed itinerary with information about specific stops will be developed at a later date.
Please send an email expressing your interest in attending by December 2, 2012.
